LULU-Preliminary Task

Preliminary Task

For my Preliminary Task i had to film a clip choosing the genre i preferred ( in my case i chose horror ). There were several things i had to make sure to include in my filming such as:

Match on action
Someone entering a room
Opening the door
Closing the door
Walking in
Crossing the room
Sitting down
Shot reaction shot (exchanging conversation with another person)

I took various shots and then edited them using Final Cut Pro also adding the sound effects for example: the motif  (every time the “stalker” is shown) or the bell for the end of the lesson.

I think that the first objective while filming movie of whatever genre is to surprise the audience and catch their interest because no one likes to watch a film they already imagine how it’s going to end and with an obvious story line.

LILY- Welcome To Our Blog! PRELIMINARY TASK! & Film Production Logo Research!

Welcome to Lily and Lulu's AS Level Media Studies blog.
Here you can find all the planning, research, making, and the final products for our tasks.

Our first task was to create a simple, short, preliminary task for experience, to help us with our main task. For our main task, we had to plan, film and edit the opening, two minutes of a film.

Hope you enjoy reading!

Lily and Lulu :)

Firstly, I realised that if we where going to be making the opening two minutes to a film, that looked real and professional, we would have to make our own production company logo. Therefore I did research into the logos of other company's, as you can see below.

After researching the logos of many different production companies, I discovered that:

1) Many companies used animals, or other nature related things in the name of their company, for example, 7PoniesProductions and Rocky Mountain Film Company.

2) Almost all the logos where in plain, simple black and white, sometimes with a hint of a colour with it, e.g Foxhound Productions.

3) All used film imagery in the logos in some way for example the film strips in almost all or the reel in 'Reel Farm.'

4) The majority of logos use simple, block shapes instead of using detailed photographs- this makes them more eye-catching.
